Museum Square

 Oldtown Cluj, Museum Square Cluj-Napoca

The Museum Square, located in the heart of Cluj Napoca is one of the oldest markets in the city. It is named after Transylavnia History Museum that is in its end.

The Old City Square, over time wore several names. Small Square was known in the Middle Ages (zhe Big Square was that surrouns St. Michael Church), and Karolina Square in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Today is known as The Museum Square. In the the eastern side of the market is the Franciscan monastery church building. In the heart of the pedestrian area of The Museum Square, the Karolina obelisk rises.

Being a pedestrian area, the Museum Square is an opportunity to relax, summer events and fairs are organized here. Also, there are many outdoor terraces, away from city noise.
